Garforth Town at Home 30/11/2013

“we want nine, we want nine” is getting to be a regular chant for followers of Staveley Miners Welfare these days. Following soon after smashing eight past Lincoln Moorlands “the Welfare” knocked the same number passed Liversedge on Wednesday night.

It wasn’t all plain sailing though and the "sedge" forwards did cause a number of problems for us, their defence however could not cope with the, back from injury Ryan Damms and Jake Vernon who helped themselves to two each, Michael Trench who opened the scoring and Reece Littlejohn who stole the show with his first Staveley hattrick.

All four scorers were aided and abetted by number 8 Josh Scully who was unlucky not to have etched his name on the score sheet too.

Incidentally both of Novembers gr-eight performances have involved 16 year old ‘keeper Chris Butt who again played well.

Next up is the home game against Garforth Town on Saturday 30th November.

We’ve kind of got unfinished business against “the Miners” following our defeat at Wheatley Park stadium in September. A game which up until the 70th minute had actually been our best performance of the season and In my opinion we didn’t deserve the 2-0 defeat.

A quick look at the table will tell you that Garforths season has been a bit average up until now . nine wins, nine defeats and five draws and they have gained exactly the same amount of points away from home as they have at home.

They do however have dangerous players including C J Lyle who scored against us in September and has scored 8 in total this season, and will provide much more of a test than Liversedge and Lincoln Moorlands.

Saturdays game marks the end of November and brings about the Player of the Month vote.  There's been a bit of a technical hitch with regards the presentation of this “prestigious award” to the players but should be sorted soon…

To recap

Augusts player of the Month was Matt Thorpe. Thorpey lead by example during a difficult start to the season for our new team and helped himself to a goal in the FA Cup.

Jordan Turner who left for Parramore shortly before taking Septembers title after scoring 7 goals in wins over Maltby, Nostell and Ashton Athletic in the Fa Vase.

Octobers vote went in favour of Pat Lindley whose goals and combative midfield performances this season  have made him one of the “first names on the sheet”.

Who wins Novembers title is entirely up to you and you can register your vote by clicking here
