So goals that;
Give us a lead will earn the player two points, regardless of the final result.
Put us level will get a point.
Give us a two goal cushion will get half a point, as will a goal that reduces the deficit to a single goal.
Put us three (or more) goals to the good will be considered as just the icing on the cake and won't be rewarded, similarly goals that bring us to within two (or more) goals of the opposition will be considered as mere consolations and hence also not credited.
The most recent game will be first so to review this from the start of the season go to the bottom and work your way up,and for this table cup goals will count.

End of season 2015/2016. Booo
As goals scored are crucial in this we can easily sort out
the Athersley Recreation, Pickering Town and Pontefract Collieries home games
and the Albion Sports Away one as unfortunately we didn’t score any goals in
those games and therefore there are no points to be had.
However Adam Scott gets two points for giving us the lead in
the home game against Garforth Town and Dan Fletcher gets 0.5 as he scored our
second which gave us a two goal cushion.
The same can be said for the away game at Clipstone but this
time it was Kieren Watson who gets the two for giving us the lead and Kurtis
Morley bags the 0.5 for putting us two up. Adam Lee’s third in the 88th
minute whilst not irrelevant it makes no difference to the table.
Adam Scott is on the sheet again with the equaliser against
Worksop Town, gaining another point.
Jamie Brown gave us the lead against Maltby Main so gains
two points and as Courtney Hastings scored the goal that increased that lead to two he adds another 0.5 points to his tally.
Next up was the tospy turvy cup game against Cleethorpes
Town where the lead changed hands several times ensuring a whole host of points
were gained.
We were 1-0 down when Nathan Jessop scored twice to first
equalise then to give us the lead so he grabs three points, Cleethorpes
equalised soon after the break but Adam Scott's brilliant solo effort put us back in front he gains
another 2 points, but that’s where the scoring ends for that game as we
eventually went onto lose 4-3.
And that brings us to the last points scoring game of the
season, the away game at Parkgate where Mohammed Tijani came off the bench to
score our equaliser earning himself one point and an own goal from Reece Wesley
means that he gets two points that he almost certainly doesn’t want!
Chucking all that into the bean counter means that the “Meaningful goals” champion for 2015/2016 is….
Player | Points |
---|---|
C.Hastings | 25 |
A.Scott | 23 |
K.Watson | 22 |
J.Brown | 5.5 |
S.Carty | 4.5 |
K.Morley | 3 |
D.Fletcher | 3 |
N.Jessop | 3 |
E.Wall | 2 |
R.Wesley* | 2 |
C.Oglesby | 1 |
J.York | 0.5 |
*R.Wesley actually plays for Parkgate but his own goal gave us a lead in the game against them so is included to account for that goal.
25/03/2016 - its been a long time since I last updated this so lets get straight into it…
Clipstone at home – Kieren Watson bags two points for
putting us in the lead and Charlie Oglesbys equaliser earns him 1.
Retford at Home – Adam Scott and Dan Fletcher both get two
points because they both gave us the lead – Fletchers after Retford had
equalised Scottys opener.
Nostell – away – Kieren Watsons goal gave us the lead so he
gets 2 points and Dan Fletchers goal extended that lead to 2 so he gets 0.5
Tadcaster Albion at home – Kieren Watson grabbed another
point for our equaliser against the league leaders and Courtney Hastings goal
gave us the lead and ultimately the win so he gets 2 from this game.
We didn’t score against Cleethorpes at home so there were no
points scored available so moving swiftly on to….
Garforth away in the cup (which counts for this) – Kieren
Watson kept up his good run by giving us the lead so 2 points are his and 0.5
points go to Adam Scott for increasing that lead to two.
In the 2-2 draw at home to Barton Adam Scott scored the
equalising goal adds 1 point to his total and Kurtis Morley gets 2 for giving
us a 2-1 lead late on.
Jamie Brown gave us the perfect start putting us into a 12th
minute lead against Handsworth Parramore so gets 2 points. It went a bit wrong
after that and we were 6-1 down by the time Kurtis Morley scored our second so
his goal doesn’t score any points.
Thackley now and Adam Scott gets 2 points for giving us the
lead at Dennyfield, Courtney Hastings gets 0.5 for increasing that lead to two.
Kieren Watson gets nothing for the third however.
And lastly Matt Varley’s strike away at Pickering is another
of those non points scoring goals as we were 3-0 down at the time.

J.York | 0.5 |
2/2/2016 – six games played since the last update but unfortunately we didn’t score any goals in defeats to Bridlington (a) and Brigg (H) so moving swiftly on…
..to the 2-4 victory over Handsworth Parramore on boxing day
where Courtney Hastings scored a 2nd minute equaliser and one to
gives us a two goal cushion at half time earning him 2.5 points, Adam Scott
grabs two points as his 39th minute goal put us into the lead and
Steve Carty settled the nerves with the goal that restored our two goal cushion
effectively killing the game so he gets 0.5.
Kieren Watson bagged himself 3 points in the 3-1 home win
against Liversegde, 2 for his 7th minute goal which put us in the
lead 0.5 for his second of the game which put us 2-0 up and another 0.5 for his
third of the afternoon because by the time it was scored Liversedge had pulled
one back and this goal gave us a two goal cushion once more.
Adam Scott added to his points tally from the earlier games
with another goal in the 0-4 win away at Armthorpe his goal was the first so
its 2 points for the lead and Jamie Brown gets the only other points on offer
(0.5) from this one with the one that gave us a two goal cushion

4/12/2015 - No goals were scored away at Garforth so no points are awarded, and it was that man again Courtney Hastings who collected 1 point for our equaliser in the following game away at Barton Town Old Boys.
He also went pointastic away at Maltby Main with two equalisers and a lead giver, gaining a bumper total of four points and Kieren Watson also claimed 0.5 for providing a two goal cushion.
Watson gained the same amount for exactly the same reason in the next two games nameley Athersley Rec away and Parkgate at home but Steve Carty takes the spoils for most points in those two games with the goals that gave us the lead in both games.
and finally in that crazy game away at Pontefract Collieries Adam Scott and Courtney Hastings gain 2 points each for giving us a lead, and once again Kieren Watson got the goal that extended that lead to two.

C.Hastings | 20 |
A.Scott | 8.5 |
K.Watson | 6 |

24/10/2015 - Been far too long since the last update so rather than go into a long winded explanation of how the table should look now i'll brief it....
Since last time Courtney Hastings has scored three equalisers - v Nostell, Worksop Town (cup) and Cleethorpes taking 1 point for each = 3.
He has also scored two goals to put the team in the lead v Nostell and Albion Sports and takes two points for each = 4 points
And finally he scored goals that gave us a two goal cushion v Albion and Thackley so bags another 0.5 for each of those bringing his grand total to 8 points.
Kieran Watson scored the goal that brought us back to within one goal v Cleethorpes so gets 0.5 points for that and another 0.5 points for the goal that put us back to two in front v Albion. His goal v Thackley whilst important didn't change the outcome of the game too much as we were already 2 up at the time so doesn't count in this.
and rounding out the update for now is Adam Scott as his goal v Thackley put the team in the lead and is worth 2 points.

18/09/2015 - Our first goals of the season game in the 2-3 win away at Brigg Town, and the way the scoring went all three of our goal scorers score points, Jamie Brown and Ellis Wall get two each because they scored either side of Jonathan Slaters equaliser for the home side. Kieren Watson gets 0.5 points because his goal (the third) gave us a two goal cushion at the time he scored.
Kieren Watson's double in the home game against Armthorpe earned him 2.5 points for scoring the goals that put us into the lead and the goal that gave us a two goal cushion.
Our next goals came in the epic 3-4 win over Worksop Town where Adam Scott put us in the lead, Jamie Brown gave us a two goal cushion, an unfortunate Simon Hore own goal brought the tigers within one again so that mean Jamie York's goal get him 0.5 points for putting us back into a two goal lead, as does Adam Scott again, for exactly the same reason.
Goals continued to fly in a week later in the Fa Vase game at home to Cheadle the result didn't go our way but Courtney Hastings announced his arrival in style with two point scoring goals namely an equaliser and a lead giver so bagged himself 2.5 points, Jamie Brown also continued his steady points scoring with the goal that put us 3-1 up and therefore gains 0.5 points from this game.
Another defeat followed a week later at Retford but Adam Scott still picked up some useful points as his goal put us into the lead that day and...
...bringing us bang up to date is the 1-5 victory away at Liversedge however only two of those goals will count for this Courtney Hastings scored first, the lead giver, grabbing himself 2 points and then Kurtis Morley's goal gave us a two goal cushion so he gets 0.5.
So heres how the"Meaningful Goals" table table looks going into the Nostell home game at the weekend
