First Team: "Who got us the points 2014 / 2015?"

A thing, which aims to find out which players made the telling contribution to the "pts" column in the league table, which at first does sound a little bit more complicated it actually is....

In a draw. The player who scores the goal that secures a draw (our first in a 1-1 draw, our second in a 2-2 draw etc) is determined as having earned us that point; or the defence* in the case of a 0-0 draw.

In a win. The player who scores the goal that made sure we got a draw (our first in a 2-1 or 3-1 win, our second in a 3-2 or 4-2 win) gets one point or the defence in the case of a two nil win.

The player who scores the winner (the second in a 2-1 or a 3-1 win etc) gets two points (as he turned a draw into a win).

*defensive points are shared between the 'keeper and the back four in the event of a defensive substitution the points will be split between the 2 players involved.

Last seasons competition when down to the wire as Matty Thorpe took the title on the last day of the season so...

"Who got us the points" in 2014 /2015.

02/05/2015 - Unfortunately no more points were added to the table in the final game of the season so its "as you were" from the previous update.

01/05/2015 - Ok so a lots happened since the last update, and there are just two points to add to the table.

the 0-0 draw at home to Liversedge means that because no goals were scored or conceded its the defence that won us that point so Chris Butt, Tom Gambles, Greg Fitzpatrick and James Finnegan all get 0.2 points, Alex Pugh went off injured so he and his replacement at centre back Ross Goodwin get 0.1 points each.

Jahmal Smith's goal earned the team a draw so he gets one more point which, as there are only three more points available takes him to an uncatchable total and is therefore crowned "who got us the points Champion for 2014 / 2015"

10/04/2015 - Lee Whittington secured the first point at home to Barton Town and the win against Glasshoughton so he gets 3 of the 9 available points since the last update.

Ellis Wall keeps up the pressure at the top with 2 points for the last minute winner against Barton Town.

Moving into fourth place in the table is Kurtis Morley thanks to his goal against glasshoughton which would have secured the firs point.

the final three points for this update go to Ryan Watters whse sensational equaliser against Parkgate would have secured a point if Jahmal Smith hadn't scored our second, but thankfully he did and in doing so grabs 2 points.

03/03/2015 - I think you'll all have the idea of how this works by now so without further ado...

Unfortunately there were no points scored v Maltby (H) and Heanor (A) but...

Ellis Wall continues to take the challenge to Jahmal Smith with the winning goal against Liversedge and moves to within just 3 points of the top, as there was also a clean sheet in the game the 6 players that made an appearance in the defence that night share the point that they secured.

Michael Trench capped a fine all round team performance with the goal that secured us a very good point away at Handsworth Parramore.

13/02/2015 - Wow a whole two months since this was updated so theres loads of games to catch up on right? well actually no. the inclement weather has meant that only five games have been played since boxing day...

First up was the 3-2 win against Heanor Town and Ellis Wall got the goal that would have secured us a point (the second one) and Jahmal Smith bagged the extra two points with his late winner, next up was the draw against Bridlington Town and once again it was Jahmal Smith with the goal that secured that draw.

We'll gloss over the two defeats v Worksop Town and v Shaw Lane Aquaforce as they don't count towards this and bring the table bang up to date with a point for Ross Gooodwin as his stunning goal would have left us with a draw if it hadn't been for Ellis Walls left footed winner against Thackley.

26/12/2014 - Seems ages since the last update but postponements have meant that only four league games have been played since the start of November, and its great for the team that all of them have been wins and that means another 12 points need to be added to the table, so for ease of explaining lets have a look at each game in turn...

Kurtis Morley took all three points in the 4-2 win over Albion Sports as he scored our crucial second goal which had the other two not gone in would have secured us a point, and therefore gains that point in this table, he also scored the even more crucial third goal which then gave us a further two points for the win.

Next up was the 2-3 win over Cleethorpes Town where Craig Fisher scored the once again crucial second goal that would have secured a point. Jahmal Smith bagged the third and winning goal that then gave us the extra two points for the win.

Jahmal Smith again bagged the winners in the games against Armthorpe and Retford, but "only" :) takes 2 points from each of those games because our defence kept clean sheets and so therefore secured the first points as if we hadn't scored in either of those games then they both would have been draws.

07/11/2014 - Three more league wins have added 9 points to the table, since the last update.

Jordan Eagers turned the point won by the defenders into three away at Barton. Jordan Hodder secured the 1st point against Athersley with Pat Lindley adding the other 2 and Sam Finlaw and Jahmal Smith dramatically secured us 1 point and 2 points respectively in the last minute against Garforth, and a quick look at the table will show you what a great team effort its been so far with no less than 20 players contributing to the points tally

21/10/2014 - lots to add since the last update, 6 points shared between nine players, shows just how good a TEAM we are, the defence picked up points galore for 2 clean sheets and Ryan Damms continued his great start to the season with the winner against Retford and Pat Lindley got his campaign off the mark with the points winning strike against Pickering.

13/10/2014 - An indication of how quickly this table can change came v Tadcaster Albion, Ellis Wall shot straight to the top of the table with 1 point for our first goal in the 2-1 win , and a further 2 points because he also scored our second. Without that second we would have drawn (1pt) and without the first we would have lost. (0pts)

03/10/2014 - 6 points to dish out since last time!!.... Joe Flint and Ross Goodwin get 2 each as they scored the goals that turned draws into wins.

The defenders from the Glasshoughton game get 0.2 points each as their clean sheet would have secured us a point had Joe not scored his, and Ryan Damms gets 1, as because we conceded against Maltby his goal ensured that we would have gained at least a point from that game.

23/09/2014 - amazingly its been nearly a month since our last points scoring league game, but in that time we've actually only played three league games so its not as bad as it sounds.

Following the win over Nostell the lads lost to high flying Shaw Lane, and then played three cup games on the bounce which of course don't count for this competition.

We returned to league action on the 17th September and Nathan Forbes scored the goal that got us the point in that game, as without it we would have lost.

Another point was gained during the 0-0 draw against league leaders Handsworth Parramore which means because we didn't score, one goal for our opponents would've meant 0 points for us - the defence take that point.

24/08/2014 - They made us sweat a bit in the last game against Nostell but three points were once again added to the tally, thanks to Nathan Forbes goal which secured the first point, and Matt Thorpe who launched his defence of the title by scoring the goal that gave us the further two points.

21/08/2014 - the 5-1 win over Thackley last night saw us put our first points on the board. It was a shame that we conceded that goal in the last minute and that Luke O'Brien goal meant that had we not scored we would have lost the game so therefore gained 0 points.

Thankfully we did score and Jordan Eagers takes the first point as his goal WOULD HAVE turned a defeat into a draw. Ryan Damms takes 2 points as his cheeky little lob over the keeper converted the would be draw into a well deserved victory.

The third, fourth and fifth goals unfortunately don't count in this as without those goals we would still have won 2-1 and gained three points.
