Despite the loss on Wednesday night against Worksop Town,
where they were unlucky not to get something out of the game (one of the best
goals you’ll ever see anywhere was scored by Ryan Damms though). Staveley Miners
Welfare have been in a pretty decent vein of form...
...Following up the 0-0 draw
against Handsworth Parramore with two wins against Glasshoughton Welfare and
Maltby Main scoring 5 and letting only 1 in.
The under 21’s seem to have recovered from a shaky start,
the under 18’s have progressed reasonably comfortably through two rounds of the Fa Youth cup, and the Ladies team are now 4 from 4
and sit proudly at the top of the league.
So as a club I believe we've got lots of reasons to be
cheerful and all our teams should move forward with confidence.
The next First Team game sees the Welfare take of another pace
setting club in….
Tadcaster Albion -
4th October 3pm Inkersall Road
The club was formed in 1892 as John Smith's Football Club, taking this name as the location of
their ground in Tadcaster is situated behind the John
Smith's brewery (which is lso why they are called “the Brewers”.
Originally playing in the York league they joined the Northern Counties East
Leagues as founder members in 1982, with their highest placed finish of 3rd
coming just last season.
Staveley News
Its player of the month time again and as usual you can vote
via the thing in the top right hand corner, using one of the slips in the club
house or popping an email to me here. Once again one lucky? fan will get to
present the trophy to the winner and have that pic in the programme.

Inkersall Road - kick off 2pm.

The Brewers so far?... so good
The big story of the summer is the brewers signing of former
Manchester united midfielder Jonathan Greening, but its his brother Josh who is
getting all the headlines with 16 goals already this season which has also
included 3 hat-tricks in 3 games, and those goals have sent taddy to the very top
of the table.
At Inkersall Road
The fortunes of Tadcaster and ourselves have been somewhat
entwined in both clubs tenure in the Northern Counties setup. In just league
games alone we’ve played 26 times and here at inkersall road the brewers have
the better of the 13 encounters.

One of those encounters included a 5-2 win for us on the 4th
November 2006.
"A frenetic first half saw Staveley go 3-0 up inside 11
minutes only to be pegged back to 3-2 by half time. Staveleys Matthew Ellis
got the first – a volley just indide the post from a corner, Anthony Shaw
nodded the second after great work from Mark Harrison and Wesley Pierce hit a
worldy from outside the box for the third.
In the second half Neil Cluxton slipped a ball though to
Ellis to score again and Pierce got the 5th and final goal after the
taddy keeper made “a hash” of clearing a high hopeful ball, things were very
nearly tighter than they should have been with Tadcaster creating two gilt
edged chances late on but the welfare held on."
Team: Armstrong, O’Brien, Austin, Baker, (cluxton 45) Colley,
Scott, Harrison, Tyler, Pierce, Shaw (Smith 76) Ellis (Marris 84).
